Our Community receives Newsweek America's Best CCRC Honor

CARF International is proud to be the accreditation partner of Westminster Canterbury Lynchburg. Why? Because WCL was recently honored as one of the 250 America’s Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities by Newsweek, Statista. CARF stands for Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

In their congratulatory letter, Brian Boon, PhD, CARF President/CEO, and Terrence Carolan, Managing Director, Aging Services and Medical Rehabilitation, commended WCL for its outstanding dedication to wellness and engagement of the older adults served by WCL.

“This recognition as one of the top 250 communities named by Newsweek, Statista is a testament to the dedication and diligence of the team members at Westminster Canterbury Lynchburg to enhance the lives of residents of your community,” they wrote.

WCL was one of 43 CARF-accredited continuing care retirement communities among Newsweek’s top 250. Currently accredited CCRCs received an additional 10 percent toward their total score in the Newsweek ranking.

This year, Westminster Canterbury was awarded its ninth five-year accreditation from CARF-CCAC, the nation’s only accrediting body for continuing care retirement communities. In 1982, more than 40 years ago, Westminster Canterbury was the 13th community accredited in the United States by the Continuing Care Accreditation Association, which has since evolved into CARF-CCAC. Accreditation assures WCL residents, their families and future members of our community that we continually enhance the quality of our services and programs and that we place a special emphasis on resident satisfaction.
