Our fee schedules show you the cost for each of our independent living residences, including entry fees and monthly service fees. With an all-inclusive monthly fee, you won’t have to worry about separate bills for electricity, water, sewer, trash removal, housekeeping, homeowner’s insurance, property tax, and more. Plus, you’ll have access to quality long-term care on-site, if ever needed. It all adds up to better value and greater peace of mind for you and your family.
It’s never too soon to get your name on our future resident list. Known as the Canterbury Club, it gives you priority when your preferred floor plan becomes available. Canterbury Club members are welcomed and encouraged to use our fitness center, attend enrichment programs and enjoy meals in our dining venues. It’s a great way to meet future neighbors and feel a part of our community.
If you’re not quite ready to move or waiting for a specific residence to become available, the Azalea Option may be right for you. This option, offered under both LifeCare and Fee-for-Service contracts, offers future residents peace of mind knowing their residency and care is guaranteed on campus. We’ll work with you to determine a timeline for your future move to campus. In the meantime, care is guaranteed. Of course, you’ll also have access to our amenities and activities while living at home.

This community enables you to live in a private residence, with the assurance that health services are available through every stage of life if ever needed. Our LifeCare Plan includes future health services at no additional charge, protecting your assets from potential catastrophic costs. All residents have access to on-site wellness programs, preventive care, 24-hour emergency response, assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing.
Westminster Canterbury is affiliated with and guided by the high standards of the Episcopal and Presbyterian churches. It is owned by a non-profit, non-stock membership corporation and governed by a non-compensated Board of Trustees. Composed of community leaders, the Board is approved by the Episcopal Diocese of Southwestern Virginia and the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic Presbyterian Church.
Westminster Canterbury is an interfaith community and open to all. Residents and visitors are welcome without regard to religious preference. Westminster Canterbury’s management team has demonstrated outstanding skills and dedication, serving resident members with courtesy and commitment.
Of course not. Westminster Canterbury has never had such a policy. In fact, different entrance fee plans and refund options are available so you can select a plan that best fits your personal and financial goals.
Yes. Residents take pride in furnishing and decorating their new homes to reflect their tastes. Westminster Canterbury also offers a nice selection of custom upgrades. With approval of management and for an additional charge, you can add special features such as built-in storage or other individual selections to customize your home.
Monthly fees are reviewed annually and may be adjusted based on actual operating expenses. Costs are carefully managed, and fees reflect the lowest feasible rate to maintain sound financial practices and the high quality of our services. A 30-day written notice is provided to all residents in advance of any adjustment to the monthly fee.

Yes, a significant portion of the entrance fee is recognized as a pre-paid healthcare expense. A similar portion of the monthly fee is also deductible as a medical expense.

A resident household in the Health Center includes 21 private rooms and shares common living areas that include a kitchen, dining room and a spacious living room. Within the household are neighboring residents and Care Partners, i.e. nurses, certified nurse aids, dining and environmental team members, who together meet and maintain the needs of the residents and their home.
Yes, and all residents are voting members. The Residents’ Council, the association’s executive body, is composed of nine residents and meets monthly. The council is an active, integral part of the community and is instrumental in interacting with management on many facets of campus life. Meeting minutes are distributed to all residents. In addition, two residents serve as representatives on the Board of Trustees.
Yes. Spiritual well-being and enrichment, while an individual choice, are vitally important at Westminster Canterbury. Committed to the principles of Christian values, the community has an active Chaplaincy Program. Our chaplain, visiting pastors, and volunteers are a source of leadership and inspiration as they hold services, provide counseling and lead Bible study groups throughout the community.
