About US

Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg is a not-for-profit Life Plan Community of approximately 450 residents and 420 team members. We strive to be a community of excellence that enriches, empowers and engages the lives of residents, their families and team members.

Our Vision

Inspiring growth and well-being for all the lives we touch.

Our Mission

Our mission is to build and support a community that provides a continuum of care for seniors, focusing on a high quality of life, a full spectrum of services and a commitment to dignity, compassion and respect for all. We are an inclusive community where people from all backgrounds can thrive, and we are a responsible partner that supports the senior living needs of the larger community.

Sense of Unity

Culture

If there’s one word to sum up our culture, it’s family. Some residents are third-generation family members who’ve made our community their home. Other residents have a family connection in the area or simply moved here to enjoy a greater quality of life. What we all have in common is a generous, can-do spirit that gives back to our community and the greater community of Lynchburg. We listen to each other, learn from one another and help each other any way we can.

Uncovering Our

History

Founded by the Episcopal and Presbyterian churches, Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg opened its doors in 1980. What began as two apartment buildings with a health services center has grown to include cottages, four residential buildings, a wellness center and modern healthcare center. Today, our nonprofit, interfaith Life Plan Community provides healthcare, wellness and recreational services to approximately 450 residents.
