McKinney and DeWinter join WC team

Lynchburg, Virginia — June 2016

Local Lynchburg resident Amy E. McKinney, PA-C, and Michael DeWinter, of Colorado, have joined the management team at Westminster Canterbury.

“We are pleased to welcome Amy and Michael to their new roles at Westminster Canterbury,” said President and CEO Sean Huyett. “We look forward to working with them to enhance the services that we offer our residents,”

As a certified Physician Assistant, McKinney coordinates the outpatient health services offered through the Medical Associates of Central Virginia (MACV) to residents on the Westminster Canterbury campus at 501 VES Road. Westminster has enjoyed a successful partnership with MACV for the past 10 years.

McKinney began her career in education with a Bachelor of Science degree in child development from Lynchburg College. She taught at the elementary level from 2000 to 2010 at Big Island and the Body Camp Schools respectively.

She entered the Pre-Health Science Certification Program at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010 and went on to obtain her Masters’ Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Jefferson College of Health Sciences in December 2015.

In addition to her academics, McKinney holds certifications in basic and advanced life support, and currently volunteers with the Boonsboro Rescue Squad. She is also a member of the Virginia and American Academies of Physician Assistants.

Michael DeWinter

Michael DeWinter

Michael DeWinter comes to Westminster Canterbury from Denver, Colorado where he lived for the past 19 years. He assumed the role of Dining Services Manager, as a Sodexo employee, in early April. Sodexo is a Westminster partner that provides food service, maintenance and environmental services management on the Lynchburg campus.

With a degree in Retail Management, Michael’s professional background includes marketing and advertising, retail sales and management, and working in the hospitality industry in restaurants, hotels, and private club fine dining. He has been a special events designer, caterer, and party planner as well.
